Missing you already!

Any other year I would be googling "rca secret" every day for news of contributors to the forthcoming sale. Any other year I would be going back over previous years cards to remind myself of what artists have done in the past, what I liked and missed out on and generally indulging in a little trip down memory lane. Any other year I would be trawling the press each weekend to see if RCA secret was featured. But alas not now, not this year. RCA secret 2012 just isn't happening. And doesn't March feel like a lifetime away? Hurry up and come back RCA secret, we are all missing you!

No RCA secret this year!!!

Devestating news - no RCA secret this year.

In 2011, RCA Secret celebrated its Eighteenth Birthday as a unique exhibition and sale of almost 3,000 original, postcard-sized artworks made by professional artists, designers and illustrators, including alumni and postgraduate students at the Royal College of Art. While the Royal College of Art celebrates its 175th Anniversary in 2012, RCA Secret takes a break to return anew in 2013 for its twentieth year as one of London’s most popular art sales. FORTHCOMING EXHIBITION & SALE Too impatient to wait until next autumn, the new and improved RCA Secret will be revealed on March 14th 2013, with the exhibition running until the day of the sale on Saturday 23rd March. Our spring clean not only sees a change in dates for RCA Secret, but a move across to the Royal College of Art’s landmark development, the Dyson Building, off Battersea Bridge Road, SW11 4AS.

Edd Pearman RCA secret prints

I know the two postcards that Edd Pearman did of Matadors got a lot of love at RCA Secret (see this post on Edd's blog for an example).  So if you missed out on them Edd has now released them as limited edition prints through Rise Art.  What's more they are only £85 in small editions of 45.  I got to see them in the flesh at the London Art Fair and they look great.  Plus if you use this link you will get a further £10 off your first purchase, making the first one an even more affordable £75!

Noise Festival Secret postcard sale

Here's another secret postcard sale I have come across courtesy of Speebe on the banksy forum.   A good cause and it appears the remaining works are for sale online at £45 plus VAT.
Noise Festival - Secret Postcard Sale: £45 for an original artwork.

This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to purchase unique artwork, in time for the gift-giving season!

NOISEfestival.com’s Secret Sale consists of original “one-off” postcard artworks created by leading artists including Red or Dead fashion label founder Wayne Hemingway, legendary singer-songwriter Elvis Costello, Academy Award winning Aardman Animations, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, as well as Mancunian DJ and Producer Mr Scruff, alongside emerging creative talent from the NOISEfestival.com website.

The secret is, the exclusive artworks are signed on the back so buyers don’t know the identity of the artist until you’ve made your purchase.

Each art postcard costs just £45 (plus 20% VAT), regardless of whether it has been made by a famous name or an emerging artist, so you could pick up a unique piece of art that’s worth much more!

All proceeds of the sale will go direct to the NOISE arts Charity, currently receiving no core funding for its work in promoting new talent. This fundraiser will help the organisation to continue their dedicated work to support original talent in Architecture, Fine Art, Moving Image, Photography, Fashion, Product Design, Word and Music.
